Trying to enjoy music even when you have hearing loss, can be challenging. Based on how severe your hearing loss is, and which frequencies you have trouble hearing, music might sound distorted or appear to have moments of silence while it’s playing. Even if you have trouble hearing a familiar song, your brain can remember the notes that your ears are missing and fill in that gaps.  

You may recognize a tune or a beat, but the lyrics aren’t as easy to pick up. They may sound like a mumble rather than actual words. There is a way you can still enjoy the music: read along with the lyrics as it plays. 

How Reading Lyrics can Let You Enjoy Music Again

For some people with hearing loss, understanding new songs can be tough. You might be able to hear the beat, but not the lyrics.   

While the music plays, and the singing starts, read the lyrics. After a few listening sessions and practice, you might catch on and be able to sing along with the lyrics.
