The hearing aid manufacturer Signia makes monumental strides in causing the entire world to be a better place. Not only do they help people hear better, they also make worldwide, crucial humanitarian efforts to support people in various ways. They pick up international causes, take action when there is a humanitarian crisis, and engage in local causes.
Examples of U.S. causes
Signia makes a huge difference in the United States. At their headquarters in New Jersey, they hold coat and toy drives every year to help people in need. Blood drives are held at the New York Blood Center, where employees give blood to victims of accidents and patients in surgery. And the people of Puerto Rico received thousands of meals during Hurricane Maria.
Examples of international causes
Signia has offices around the world, so they help people everywhere. In Western China, at the China Foundation for Disabled Persons, they support people with hearing loss by donating funds and hearing aids. In South Africa, they conducted almost a thousand hearing tests in one day during a World Hearing Day initiative. They raised awareness in Brazil on how to prevent hearing loss by participating in the annual “Silence Walk” at a major university. Signia’s colleagues in Poland established a program to educate others on hearing loss. And in Japan, they paired with the Japanese Deaf Soccer Association to sponsor an event to garner more attention for deaf athletes, plus they fitted athletes with hearing aids.
Besides providing hearing solutions, Signia helps internationally in other ways. Employees supported Singapore’s Children Charities Association by being the main sponsor during an annual walkathon. In Italy, Italian team members supported the Make-A-wish Foundation by running a marathon and making the wishes of seriously ill children come true. In Australia, employees of Signia supported the Multiple Sclerosis Foundation by raising money and participating in a bike race to heighten awareness about the condition. And In Canada, Signia honored the launch of TeleCare™ by donating $150 per business account that signed up for the service, giving the funds to the Gord Downie Fund for Brain Cancer Research.
Signia continues to help the whole world, as well as provide phenomenal hearing solutions for everybody.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation, which is a mission of an American hearing aid manufacturer, recently aided Portugal with hearing aids, even though most of their mission work is done in the United States. They have reached their hearts across the world to many countries.
During Phase 1 of the mission, they worked with local partners to find and screen people with hearing loss who needed hearing aids. Phase 2 consisted of presenting the hearing aids and mingling with big screen and television stars, as well as famous bands. Hearing music again brought joy to the patients.
Bill Austin, the founder of the Starkey Hearing Foundation, said, “It was a good day of people coming together to discover our humanity through caring.”

The Starkey Hearing Foundation, which helps more people in the United States than anywhere else, set up shop in Lexington, Kentucky to help out residents with hearing loss. Even though they got set up in agreeable weather, it started pouring an hour before people were due to arrive. But the weather did not prevent a good deed from happening.
More than one hundred people rushed into a ballpark to benefit from the hearing mission. People got wet, but their spirits were not dampened. John Calipari, the University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball head coach and his team came out to help cheer on patients. Other sports stars showed up, as well. Many people were helped that day, as the Starkey Hearing Foundation cause continues.

The Starkey Hearing Foundation helps 360 million people worldwide, including 32 million children, who are affected by disabling hearing loss. People struggling with hearing loss many times have little access in getting support for their needs. Therefore, Starkey provides care to 110 countries worldwide.
Starkey has a four-phase model for helping. Phase one is to treat the population, wherein teams are assembled to be trained. These teams consist of physicians, partners, and coordinators. Phase two is the hearing mission. It includes patient identification. There is screening of qualified candidates. Then custom ear molds are created and sent back to the U.S. for manufacturing. Partnerships help the overall cause, finding communities that need help, which is an indispensable proposition. Phase three is the after-care program. There is follow-up care provided one month after treatment. Batteries are provided, earmolds are replaced when needed, and repairs are made--all of these services are free. Then, phase four happens, which is mainstreaming people back into life. There is support for schools for the deaf and hard of hearing, for instance. Speech and language development is addressed. Plus, people are integrated back into the world.
Starkey hearing technologies and customers helped provide 200,000 hearing aids in one year, as an example of their accomplishments. And the U.S. gets more help than any other country.
If you want to hear better, please contact your hearing instrument specialist at Pure Sound Hearing Aids.
