 In a study conducted by Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons journal, roughly all test subjects who were 80 years or older had some range of hearing loss. The research also showed that only 59 percent of all those participants who had hearing loss, actually wore hearing aids.
The lack of hearing aid usage may be based on social stigma, or discomfort in wearing the devices due to an improper fitting.
